Native American Bar Association of Arizona 2018 Seven Generations Honorees

This year NABA-AZ is honoring three distinguished individuals for their contribution to the Arizona Indian law community. The honorees will be announced in the near future.

Lifetime Achievement Award Criteria

Recognizes and honors a senior attorney who has made a substantial contribution to the practice and administration of law in the State of Arizona in the following ways:

  1. Has contributed to the legal field and provided service and expertise for significant period of time.  Must be a senior attorney.
  2. Has provided valuable service by devoting time and energy to improve the quality of life for others in the Native American community.
  3. Has created change or impacted change at the local, state and national level.
  4. Demonstrated leadership in the Community.
  5. Is recognized by peers for legal projects and achievements including business-related affiliations, directorships and other designations.
  6. Has received other awards, honors, achievements or publications that support this nomination.

Member of the Year Award Criteria

Recognizes and honors a NABA-AZ member who:

  1. Has a long history of service to NABA-AZ or a new member who has contributed significantly to the organization.
  2. Has brought honor and esteem to NABA-AZ by their commitment to public service.
  3. Has demonstrated such commitment through, among other things, pro bono, community service or bar association activities, or by providing legal services to the underrepresented and disadvantaged.
  4. Is an active member of NABA-AZ, as evidenced by attendance at conference and workshops, participation on NABA-AZ committees or forums, or other support of NABA-AZ.
  5. Has helped NABA-AZ achieve financial and/or other resource savings, improved service to members, and community outreach.

Community Service Award Criteria

Recognizes and honors individuals or groups making an impact in Arizona who/that has:

  1. Demonstrated service, leadership or contribution to the Indian community.
  2. Demonstrated ability to achieve and/or overcome obstacles to build stronger, healthier and safer communities.
  3. Has had positive outcome of project.
  4. Demonstrate sustained commitment to meeting community needs.
  5. Developed and fostered the virtues and skills of civic engagement and social responsibility.
  6. Used unique and creative approaches to meeting needs.
